Props and Costume

Planned Costumes

5 Main Characters – I am going to dress these figures in monochromatic, and slightly casual clothing, despite initially being ejected from a nightclub. In terms of makeup, I am taking inspiration from ‘neutral glam’/’no-makeup makeup’ looks when applying it onto those I have casted for my music video, both male and female. In order to strengthen the sense of it being a ‘teenage slasher’ parody, I am using SFX makeup to show the events within the narrative which I will be applying.

‘Assailant’ – This character will be dressed monochromatically and minimalistically, in simple black clothing. Given the mystery of the narrative, I do not want to employ bold clothing to draw away from the ambiguity I aim to create. I will also be using a mask, in order to reveal the identity of this character during the final shot.

‘The Shining’ Twins – As an intertextual reference, the two actors will wear pale blue dresses mimetic of the costume worn by the young girls in the iconic scene from the popular film, ‘The Shining’. As both the male and female actor casted for this section have fairly long hair, I will be able to style their hair similar to that of the twins, using butterfly hair clips.

The Bouncer – After researching their common clothing, I have concluded that I will use a simple black suit, trousers and arm strap to ensure that this individual is easily recognisable to help the viewers understands the establishing section of the music video’s plot.
